Uasin Gishu County commissioner Hassan Abdi has refuted claims that there is tension in the county ahead of October 17 presidential election.
He said there was no cause for alarm.
"In 2013 and 2017 general elections our county was branded as a violence hot spot which didn't happen. Why are they always branding our county as hot spot yet it is not the case," he said in Eldoret town, Wednesday.
"I want to assure Uasin Gishu residents that there security is guaranteed before, during and after the October 17th presidential elections. We have deployed over 1,000 police officers to carry out regular patrols," added Hassan.
He, however, warned politicians against making utterances that could divide Kenyans on tribal and political cocoons during this electioneering period.
"I want to give stern warning to politicians fond of spreading hate messages during their campaigns that their days are numbered and soon they will be brought to book. Let them campaign peacefully," noted Hassan.
