Residents of Borabu in Nyamira County have accused County commissioner Isaiah Nakoru of delaying the deployment of police officers to the border of Nyamira and Bomet counties to help end cattle theft.

The residents said Nakoru despite the calls to deploy more officers to the border, nothing has been done.

The locals led by James Orenge on Wednesday said police officers are not ready to end cattle rustling.

Orenge said Acting Interior Cs Fred Matiang’i should consider setting up more police posts in the area to curb livestock theft.

“Last year, we witnessed a series of livestock theft. This year we are calling on the national government to help us end cattle theft because Nakoru has failed to help us,” he said.

He urged Nyamira County government to work closely with the national government to boost security in the region.

“Governor Nyagarama should ensure his government works directly with the national government to ensure the security of the people and their properties is guaranteed,” he noted.
