Residents bordering Eburu Forest in Gilgil sub-county have been urged to conserve it.

Speaking on phone on Thursday after holding a community sensitization Forum, Gilgil assistant county commissioner Catherine Wangui Njoroge said there is need to conserve the environment.

“We hope there will be more good relation between the community forest association and the other stakeholders,” she said.

During the forum that brought together stakeholders from Kenya Forest Service, Rhino ark, administrators from Gilgil, Eburu Rafiki  among other stakeholders, the community was taken through sensitization on the importance of conservation of Eburru forest ,review of CFA(community forest association)management plan, sensitization on the wildlife Act 2013 /tourism.

Eburu forest forms part of the catchments for Lakes Naivasha and Elementaita, with several ground springs. It is also the source of Ndabibi River and other small streams.
