Machakos county commissioner Matilda Sakwa has called on politicians to moderate the political climate in the country to allow children pursue their studies.
According to the administrator, the heated political temperatures does not favor children in learning institutions.
She urged politicians to tone down their rhetoric ahead of the coming KCSE and KCPE exams.
Sakwa said the welfare of minors will be at ease if politicians tone down their political utterances.
“Political temperatures are high in the county and it is not good for the school going children. Politicians should shun divisive and incitement utterances ahead of the October 17 elections," she said.
She urged parents in the county to be on the front line to advise the children to curb the rising cases of juvenile delinquency in the area.
“Parents should take time in advising their children on the need to uphold good morals to avoid a situation where they will become social outcasts in their future lives .Nobody would be willing to employ a person whose track record is riddled with criminal activities," she noted.
She added that the government will hold public barazas in various sub-counties to sensitise the need of parents to be involved in tackling criminal activities among the youth.
Sakwa was speaking on Wednesday during a county advisory council meeting.
