Mavoko Sub County Deputy County Commissioner, Makori Kodeck, has condemned corrupt officers in the region for unethical behaviour.
Addressing the press in his office, Kodeck said he could not rule out that there were no corrupt officers in the region.
"I am very aware that there are lots of complaints from members of the public that some police officers were taking advantage of their positions to extort and exploit innocent residents," said Kodeck.
Kodeck noted that it was unfortunate that the police who in most cases are last resort for solution to members of the public had become unreliable.
He said some members of the public had severally reported to his office that the police freed those who offended them after buying their way out.
The commissioner promised the residents that though he is not directly under control of police officers, he would raise the issue with relevant authority to avert the problem.
He said as the security chairman in the region, he will engage police bosses in the sub county to ensure that the few police officers who tarnish the force's name were weeded out and stern action taken against them to serve as examples to others.
