Nyamira County commissioner Isaiah Nakoru has dismissed claims that the government closed a police post that was set up at Ekerenyo area.
Nakoru said the police post exists and nobody can close it down since the government has already deployed police officers to the station to beef up security in the region.
"I wish to assured residents of Ekerenyo that no one is going to relocate the police post from the region as claimed.
"Local leaders spreading lies that the government has closed down the station are doing it to remain politically relevant," he said.
Nakoru said the government is committed to ensure everyone is safe by ensuring each region has enough police officers to protect the people and their property.
He asked residents to ignore leaders politicizing any project the government tries to come up with.
"The government will not bring services close to the people and take the services away when the locals need them most.
"Police officers at the station will work tirelessly to end crime at Magwagwa, Matiero and Nyamusi areas," he added.
Nakoru said the new division will be gazetted soon.
