Mombasa County Commissioner Maalim Mohamed has faulted the Likoni Sub-County security committee for slow response to robbery cases that were reported last week.
Maalim has asked the committee to explain why they failed to respond in time in a bid to avert the robberies.
Speaking on Sunday during an Eid Baraza festive held at Treasury Square, the commissioner cited an incident that claimed a woman’s life who was shot dead after an Mpesa robbery.
He said criminals are now able to commit crimes in the area within a span of 30 minutes and walk freely without the police taking any action.
“We are demanding answers from the Likoni deputy county commissioner and his team. We want to know where the officers who were supposed to be patrolling that area were during the incident,” he said.
He called upon leaders in the area to join hands with security officers, to ensure the two G3 riffles that were stolen from police officers are recovered, adding that the same riffles are now being used by criminals to caused insecurity in the area.
