Nakuru County Commissioner Joshua Nkanatha has sounded a warning to county officers who are extorting money from public inorder to render them services terming it as illegal as per the leadership and intergrity of public servants.

Adressing media on Thursday in his office, during the launch of a special campaign dubbed 'Mulika Hongo', the commissioner said public servants have a duty to offer services freely to the public without extorting money and that anyone who will be found doing the contrary will face the law.

"I would like to take this opportunity to warn any public officer who is extorting money from the public in the name of service delivery that your days are numbered and we as security department we will not allow the public to be exploited that way,"said Nkanatha.

Nkanatha also appealed to the public to be vigilant and use the SMS NUMBER 22068 to report any cases of  harassment from public officers.

"The Jubilee government has been vibrant on fighting corruption and the launch of this campaign 'Mulika Hongo' is just on time. But I want to call upon all the public officers as well as citizens to cooperate in ending this vice since we can if we unite with the security departments," he added.

'Mulika Hongo' campaign is meant to combat crime and corruption cases in the county and according to the commissioner, the residents will be required to send an sms  to 22068 whenever they witness a public officer extorting money from the public.

He added that a departmental meeting shall be held monthly in collaboration with Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission for an action against the culprits.
