Nakoru said police officers should arrest careless motorists and riders in the region to curb accidents.

“Motorists driving carelessly on our roads should not be spared by police. Police should inspect each matatu, lorry and motorbike at roadblocks to ensure those over speeding are arrested as this will help in curbing unnecessary accidents on the roads,” he said.

He said the latest incident where a primary school pupil was killed by a speeding matatu at Nyaikuro area in Manga Sub County clearly shows how careless motorists area.

The commissioner threatened that any police officer who will be found asking fro bribes from motorists will be sacked, arrested and be prosecuted in court.

“Security officers should be satisfied with their salaries and ensure they work for the people transparently.

"Motorists should volunteer the names of police officers demanding bribes at road blocks for a legal action to be taken because corruption is illegal and punishable by law,” he added.
