The recently appointed Kisii county Commissioner Samwel Karanja Njora on Monday made his first public appearance during the Jamhuri day and urged locals to maintain peace during the festive season.
Karanja praised the local community for warm reception, noting that the area is peaceful in the short while he has been there.
He urged political leaders to be champions of peace across the county and challenged them to be tolerant one another regardless of their political affiliations.
“Am happy that the residents have the best leaders who are ready to work with one another and that is what I would like to see as we head to an electioneering year," he said.
"The short period that i have been here, i have seen a relatively calm community that would help us reflect on a wider scope on issues affecting this country," he added
Karanja replaced Kula Hache, who was moved to the neighbouring Bomet County about three weeks ago.
