Naivasha sub-county commissioner Abraham Kemboi has lauded residents for working with the police in the fight against crime.
The commissioner observed that crime has generally gone down for the past three months, an attribute he gave to the good relationships between police and the locals.
Speaking to reporters at his office on Monday, Kemboi said that such partnership between the police and the people would go a long way in curbing insecurity.
“Crime in the past three months has gone down courtesy of the good relationship our security personnel have established with the residents,” said Kemboi.
The commissioner also said that more measures have been taken to cement the good relationship and cooperation with members of the public.
Kemboi added that members of the public have a key role to play in fighting insecurity, stating that most of the time police investigators depend on eye witnesses for evidence.
He therefore urged residents to embrace Nyumba Kumi initiative saying that it will further boost the war against crime.
The commissioner also lauded residents for embracing peace noting that no major incident was reported on Christmas day, unlike in the past where many criminal cases were being reported on such dates. He urged residents to embrace them even as they welcome the New Year.
Kemboi assured residents that security will be beefed up and that they should not hesitate to report law breakers to the authorities.
