Speaking to journalists at her office on Tuesday, the commissioner asked police officers to remain alert for the sake of the residents’ security.

Maina said that as the year comes to an end, nothing pertaining to security would be taken for granted.

“We have directed security officials across Kiambu County to remain vigilant and ensure security of the people,” she said.

The commissioner said that security patrols will be done across all towns, villages and estates, further noting that more security officials will be deployed with the aim of guaranteeing safety.

Maina at the same time appealed to residents to remain calm, and help the police keep order, further promising heightened security in areas like churches, as Kenyans celebrate New Year’s Day.

The commissioner on the same note called on owners of restaurants, entertainment joints and shopping malls to step up security checks, further cautioning youths against loitering aimlessly especially during the night, saying that they risk arrest if they will have no proper reasons.
