Speaking on Wednesday at the traditional Eldoret 64 stadium, the County Commissioner cautioned the muggers and the tricksters, saying their days are numbered.

"Our country needs to be celebrating the fruits of development made so far and we cannot sit back and relax when a few individuals are going around robbing people," Hassan advised.

"Investigations are underway and we are a few steps from catching most of these conmen and robbers," he added.

Hassan was speaking during the Madaraka Day celebrations presided over by Uasin Gishu County Deputy Governor Daniel Chemno.

Chemno also read Governor Jackson Mandago's speech, where he lauded Kenyans for being patriotic, further urging them to continue helping government agencies in maintaining peaceful coexistence.

Also present in the celebrations was Assembly Deputy Speaker Hosea Lamai, union officials, the clergy and other local leaders.
