Kisii County Commissioner Chege Mwangi has challenged HIV/Aids prevention policy makers and implementers to ensure they bring on board boda boda riders as part of the partnership in the war against the scourge.
Mwangi described the boda boda sub-sector as a critical in the economy whose potential can be exploited in spearheading the war against the dreaded pandemic in the country.
Speaking on Tuesday afternoon at Gusii stadium during the marking of this year's World Aids Day, Mwangi identified the boda bodas as key stakeholders in the campaign against HIV/Aids based on the constituency in which they operate.
The commissioner challenged the drafters of the HIV prevention strategic plan to consider incorporating the group in their campaign strategy as part of the efforts to fight the scourge in the region and the country.
"I am reminding the HIV prevention strategic plan policy makers and implementers to consider enlisting the bodaboda riders as stakeholders in the war against the disease, since they operate in a critical constituency in the economy and if utilized well they will facilitate the war against the scourge," stated Mwangi.
