Nyamira county commissioner Isaiah Nakoru has asked the bordering Gusii and Kipsigis communities to end clashes for the sake of peace in Bomet and Nyamira counties.

Nakoru said rampant cases of cattle theft is the greatest enemy of economic development.

He said it is time elders and leaders from the communities to agree on a lasting solution and avoid loss of lives and destruction of property.

“Ethnic and political differences are the main reason for clashes especially in the border of Nyamira and Bomet. Leaders should help in preaching peace until we eradicate insecurity,” he said.

The commissioner noted that police only won’t end the clashes if the communities don’t cooperate.

“As we approach New Year, we should allow peace to prevail so that development can be realized,” he said.
