Nakuru County Commissioner Joshua Nkanatha has reiterated president Uhuru Kenyatta's directive, that Chiefs and Assistant chiefs ensure all ID cards lying in their offices uncollected, be issued to the owners.
Addressing the press when he officially opened IEBC Stakeholders meeting on Mass Voter Registration exercise, Nkanatha said their work as administrators was to ensure mobilisation of residents, to register as voters.
He said his office had ensured uncollected IDs in various administrators' offices are collected so that every eligible Nkauru locals could register as a voter in the ongoing exercise.
“Ours is to mobilize since the work of voter registration is the mandate of IEBC. But in doing so, we are ensuring that no IDs are lying in our offices. We will take them to the owners even if it means going to the grassroots,'' said Nkanatha.
The Commissioner also called on youths who attained 18-years and above, who were yet to apply for the ID cards, to do so.
