Nakuru county commissioner Mohammed Birik individuals and groups allegedly fueling conflict over land matters in Gilgil, Molo and Naivasha.

Speaking to news reporters at his office today, the commissioner warned stiff action will be taken against inciters.

Birik alleged that some individuals are inciting some members of the public to protest over land matters.

“We want to send a stern warning to people allegedly inciting the public over land issues,” he said.

The commissioner intimated that all land matters are being addressed by the National Lands Commission (NLC) together with the ministry of Lands.

Birik said that police will remain on alert and anyone found contravening the law will be immediately arrested and charged in court.

On the same note, the commissioner has asked residents to conduct themselves in acceptable ways and shun activities and acts that would put them in trouble.

He said that police will be conducting patrols during this festive season and those caught on the wrong side arrested.

Birik said that they have been directed by the national government to ensure rules and regulations adhered to in order to curb instances of crime.

Meanwhile, a section of Nakuru town residents have supported the security amendment Bill that has been passed by Parliament signed into law by President Kenyatta.

The residents say that the law will protect Kenyans from the dreadful hands of terrorists and criminals.

“We are happy that Parliament has passed the Bill, we can now breath with relief knowing that there are tough measures for criminals,” said Miriam Ayuma, a student.

Monicah Njeru, a beautician lauded the move saying that the country’s security laws were weaker hence need for amendments.
