Kiambu county commissioner Wilson Wanyanga has warned politicians seeking elective seats in the August 8 polls against inciting the public.

The commissioner says that politicians who spew hatred and disrupt peace will be dealt with according to the law.

Addressing journalists in Kiambu Town on Wednesday, Wanyanga said that police are on alert and will not hesitate to arrest perpetrators of incitement and violence.

The County Commissioner said security mechanisms have been put in place to monitor campaigns with aim of tracking hate mongers.

“Let no one think that he or she will be spared if found spewing or perpetrating hate speech,” he said. Wanyanga asked politicians to preach unity among g their supporters as they woo for votes.

He also asked locals to shun politicians who peddle incitement and malicious propaganda.

The Kiambu commissioner said that police have been given clear instructions and will not allow rogue politicians to threaten security as the country gears up to the August 8 polls.

He warned youths against being hired and paid to disrupt peace saying that they too will be dealt with mercilessly.

Wanyanga assured locals of their safety before, during and after the August 8 general election.

He said that police will intensify patrols warning criminal goons who take advantage of the election period to advance their criminal acts of dire consequences.
