Politicians in Nakuru County have been cautioned against making sentiments or using words that will disrupt peace or cause disharmony among the people.

County Commissioner, Mohammed Birik, says that measures have been put in place to monitor politicians who are fond of using abusive on inciting language.

In an interview with the members of the fourth estate on Friday, the county commissioner said anyone politician or individual who will be caught or found using inciting language or words will be arrested and taken to court.

Birik said politicians and other people should be responsible and weight what they say in their public rallies.

“Time has come for every Kenyan to be responsible to what he or she do or says in public, the law will not spare inciters,” said Birik.

The commissioner urged Nakuru politicians to instead be on the frontline in preaching unity among locals.

Birik said the county needs unity in order to prosper adding that appropriate campaigns will be put in place to preach unity among locals.

He added that the national government is supporting peace campaigns aimed at uniting the country.

The commissioner said Kenya belongs to every citizen and that they should learn to co-exist peacefully.

At the same time, the Commissioner warned those who misuse social media platforms. He said individuals or groups that misuse social media by posting inflammatory statements will be tracked, arrested and charged in court.
