Addressing stakeholders on Wednesday at Gusii cultural hall during the stakeholders meeting organised by National Disaster Management unit.

Hache said that that the carrying of petrol through jerrycans can lead to students accessing petrol in which they use to touch schools.

Hache said that the banning using jerrycans can help in curbing the cases of fire in schools since students cannot be able to access it.

“Each one of us is asking how students access petrol. We need to ban the fetching of petrol by use of jerrycans by either the town of the vehicles or anyone else,” said Hache.

She also challenged that any person who will be allowed to fetch petrol from any petrol station should have a letter from the area chief which will explain the reason behind buying the petrol.

“I would like to appeal to anybody who will need to have petrol to have a letter from the chief in which will help him to access it,’’ added Hache.

The commissioner also noted that some business people have been selling petrol to the minors without caring was they are going to use it.
