The assembly had rejected the report which had implicated six county executive committee members of massive graft in their dockets on grounds of ‘inconsistencies’.

On Monday, Mochiemo assured members of the public that his committee will do ‘few amendments’ and re-table the report.

“I want to assure members of the public that the corruption report will be retabled in the county assembly. We have done few technical amendments in our recommendations to insert a number of conclusions that had been deleted by anonymous people,” he said.

“The report had been endorsed in our Kamukunji only to be voted against miraculously. I am optimistic that the people of Nyamira will get justice in their resources through the assembly,” Mochiemo added.

He challenged MCAs to work for the sake of bringing county government officials to accountability as part of their oversight role.

“Our committee is competent and it is laughable for the report to be dismissed on grounds of inconsistencies. Time has come for MCAs to work for the public and resist any attempts to be compromised by the executive,” he said.

"We want to see the report adopted so that those people who are squandering public resources are brought to book. That is the only way we can save our county from a host of corruption scandals,” he added.

Mochiemo said the edited report will be tabled in two weeks’ time after the committee finishes on inserting indispensable clauses which he blamed the speaker’s office for allegedly having deleted them to save a number of implicated people.
