Kisumu North Ward MCA Caroline Owen had on Thursday afternoon during the assembly sessions asked the ECD committee to table status of the recent recruited ECD assistants.

"Madam Speaker I want to seek the office of the chair of committee on ECD education on the status of their engagement. We are aware that ECD assistants were given letters of appointment recently," said Owen.

She added, “Madam Speaker an ECD assistant has received a contract of 3 years with a salary of Sh12,500, yet there is no house allowance and other allowances in the letter."

MCA Owen also wanted to know the employment status whether the assistants were hired on permanent or contract basis.

"Many ECD assistants from my Ward were posted to Awasi yet it is in my Ward they need. It is important we engage the condition of their employment affairs so that they are not treated unfairly," added Owen.

The MCA asked the office of the Kisumu County clerk to compile the list of motions the county assembly has debated and passed.

"Madam Speaker many times we realise that there is no implementation. Members came with the same motion and repeating therefore wasting tax payers money by asking the same things over and over," claimed MCA Owen.

She added, “For this reason the office of the clerk to compile the motions which have been discussed in the house, so that members might know the motions already discussed earlier.”
