The Communications Authority of Kenya will endeavour to partner with devolved governments to make accessible affordable ICT services.
CA Director of consumer and Public Affairs Mutua Muthusi says that ICT services ultimately lead to transformation of the counties and the citizens.
Speaking in Nakuru during the launch of the Kikao Kikuu consumer ICT Forum, Muthusi said:
''The Kikao Kikuu Interactive Forum is part of CA's initiatives to increase consumer education in the country. ICT has greatly transformed the way people do business and interact thus there is dire need to work with counties more,' 'said Muthusi.
He pointed out that the forums will be rolled out in phases across the counties over the next two years and that the next forum will be held in Nairobi.
Nakuru Governor Kinuthia Mbugua who graced the occasion said that the initiative will provide consumers with valuable information which will enable them make wise use of communication services.
''Nakuru County government is in the process of automating revenue collection by building an electronic platform. This will enable Nakuru residents get services whenever they are,'' said Mbugua.
Further the county government is in the process of establishing computer centres in all the sub counties in order to facilitate access to internet services.
Long term plans are also underway to establish a community radio station within the county.
