This was occasioned by excavation and damage to the water supply pipes by a contractor who graded an access road in the area.

A visit by the media to the ward found no evidence of the authorities efforts to resume the water supply as the vandalised pipes were found lying idle in the school classroom.

A teacher, Erastus Okiambe explained the discontinued water supply had been operational for close to four decades and that they had been forced to depend on from water drawn from the brick making ponds.

He expressed fears that the contaminated water exposed the pupils and teachers to risks of water-borne diseases.

The teacher petitioned the authorities concerned to consider providing safe and clean water to avert a looming epidemic.

Ohanga Obare, an official of One World One Child Organisation claimed some residents had complained of suffering from typhoid among other diarrheal diseases.

Obare announced underway plans by the organisation to mount a free medical camp in the area to screen and offer medication to those found to be sick.

He appealed to well wishers and volunteer medics to contribute towards facilitating the camp as one way of giving back to society.

The two levels of government observed Obare had a duty to provide for the social needs including water of the tax paying residents.

Zipporah Samuel interviewed on her way from the source of water, complained besides wasting time to access it ,she was confronted with the risk of falling ill owing to its contamination.

Another resident, Fred Nyakeriga, challenged the county government to account for the funds meant to protect springs, drill boreholes and connect the pipes to villages.
