A non-governmental organization has donated Sh6 million for the expansion a community hospital in Kiamaina ward, Bahati constituency.
The Esther Memorial Hospital received the donation from the Afya Group, a non-governmental organisation based in Nakuru.
Speaking when she visited the hospital on Tuesday, the group’s programmes director Sylvia Ndulu said the money will be used in the hospital's expansion as well as buying new medical equipment.
She added that the facility was chosen to benefit from the domination because of the good work it has been doing in offering healthcare to the community.
“We are here today to support this facility in the work they are doing to make sure that the community around them receives good healthcare and we are donating Ksh 6 million to help in the expansion of the hospital as well as buy new equipment,” she said.
‘Our aim is to help community based health facility expand and reach out to as many people as possible because that is one of the pillars in the vision 2030,” she added.
She called on the county government to also support private community based health facilities as a way of ensuring that health care is closer to the people.
