The man allegedly committed the offence on Friday after which he went on the run.

Confirming the incident, area chief Sebastian Muia Mang’ee said that the man had been taken to the nearby police post and later he would be taken to the hospital for the respective tests to confirm if he had indeed committed the act.

He said, “I congratulate the community policy of Kitangani location as they have brought the accused to the station. He is at the Kitangani police cells and will be taken to Matuu hospital for tests and if found its true he did it, he will face the judges in court.”

Mang’ee also condemned such acts stating that they have been on the rise and called upon the parents not to hide their children if the same is done to them. Instead, he asked them to report the cases for justice to be done.

The man is alleged to have coerced the fourteen-year-old, standard seven pupil, into the act as she was going home from fetching water at a nearby river.

Kitangani villagers consequently asked the young men in the village to search for the rapist who was believed not to have gone far from the location.

The suspect was found in the nearby Kanyoonyoo market following a hint by the residents.

The survivor was on Friday taken to hospital and given the proper medication and she is stable.
