Area Chief Henry Mirera has issued a stern warning to any community policing members in his jurisdiction who engages in extortion of chang'aa brewers instead of reporting them to the law enforcement agencies for legal action.

Addressing a public baraza at Nyakegogi shopping centre in his location, Mirera decried cases where some community members in the area secretly reached out to chang'aa brewers and demanded protection fee to protect them against arrests.

Mirera reminded the policing members that their role was to volunteer information to other law enforcement agencies for action and not usurping the agencies' roles in maintaining law and order.

"I am reminding community policing members to desist from the culture of extorting chang'aa brewers instead of reporting them to relevant law enforcement agencies for action," stated Mirera.
