An area community policing official in Nyanchwa area, Kisii County was on Thursday night murdered.
According to the police, Mr Richard Begi was stabbed severally on his neck in his house at a time when his wife was away.
"We have launched investigations into the matter and we shall ensure that the culprits are arrested," said Kisii Central police boss Francis Nguli.
Mr Nguli said that they were informed about the matter by Mr Begi's neighbours who reported that they found him lying in a pool of blood.
He pleaded with the public to help the police identify the murderers of the community policing boss.
"We suspect that there is a gang in the area that is not happy with how he used to operate as he was always strict on matters crime," said Mr Nguli.
The police boss said that more police officers will be deployed to the area to beef up security.
Kisii County residents have been raising concerns over the ever declining security in the town.
