West Pokot Senator John Lonyangapuo had to intervene to compel the company release the cattle to the owners.

The senator said drought that is ravaging the region has caused losses as cattle die every day.

Cattle owners, he said, had made huge losses.

"Drought can cause peaceful neighbours to have stress," he said after the cattle were set free.

"I have just requested Zabwani ADC farm to release these 250 cows that had been detained here for 5 days. These cows entered their grass fields to grace by force. I want to thank Zabwani ADC farm, for being understanding and releasing the cows to the owners, though a bit late."

He called on the government to intervene by drilling water holes in the county to provide water for livestock.
