National Assembly Majority leader and Township MP, Aden Duale, has threatened to sue Kengen Company.
The vocal Township MP noted that the dam was the reason flooding has occurred in the region.
Duale was in the company of CS Eugine Wamalwa and Governor Ali Korane to assess the damage and humanitarian crisis following the heavy rains pounding Garissa and flooding from Tana River that has caused the destruction of properties and displaced people to other parts of the town.
The MP noted that the flooding is as a result of Kengen hydro dams releasing excess water.
“The flooding is as a result of Kengen hydro dams releasing excess water downstream causing death and destruction of properties including schools," said Duale.
He noted that they shall take legal action against Kengen and sue it over 5 billion for damages.
Kenya Electricity Generating Company Limited is the leading electric power generation company in Kenya, producing about 75% of electricity capacity installed in the country.It dams have over-filled with water causing flooding in the lower regions of the dam.Duale stated that the National Government in collaboration with County Government, Kenya Red Cross, and UN agencies have heightened support for the displaced families.
