Shareholders of Thathini Development Company offered to settle the squatters in Mwakirunge and Bamburi, Kisauni sub county on the 1,000 acres of their 4,322 acres of land.

The company’s task force chairman Mr Sammy Gitundu said the shareholders of the company reached an agreement to give out part of the land to end the dispute.

Mr Gitundu said shareholders will give out 25 per cent of their shares to settle squatters on the parcel of land.

The owners of the land said they had agreed to give out the land so as to ensure peaceful coexistence with the squatters.

The shareholders said it would not make sense to continue holding on to the title deeds while other people were occupying the land.

“We have had several meetings with shareholders mostly from Mombasa. We are ready to give up 25 per cent of our entitlement and we remain with 75 per cent for our personal use,” said Mr Gitundu.

The meeting in Gandini Village was also attended by National Land Commission Chairman Muhammad Swazuri.
