According to them, the local organising committee and contractors have ganged up to deliberately delay the process, despite constant funding from the CDF kitty.

They accused the local organising committee, led by Alfred Mwamu, of arrogance and disobedience whenever the matter is brought up to him.

“This health centre (Iranya Health centre) has taken over two years since they started construction process. It is quite unfortunate that contractors have delayed the process all this long hence we want the MP to come out clearly and explain to us,” said Stephen Nyaribo.

“We understand that funding has been done but the local committee is very arrogant and no one is ready to listen to us. We suspect a foul play here and that is why we need our MP to pile pressure on contractors,” he added.

On Wednesday, however, Mr Mwamu dismissed the claims and said that the process was smooth since contractors were in the final touches of construction.

“Whatever they are saying is not genuine. They probably don’t understand the procedure of getting money but all in all, we are in the final stages and they have to wait for a while,” he said.
