A police post has been completed at Kanyoni village in Githobokoni sub location within Gatundu North sub-county in an effort of helping to curb insecurity in the area.
Speaking to the press from his office in Kamwangi on Thursday, the area police boss Daniel Nyamiti said that the construction of the post has already been completed and eight administration police officers will soon be deployed to the station.
Nyamiti added that the station will also be issued with a patrol car to help combat all criminal activities in the area especially at night.
"I am calling on the residents of Kanyoni to develop a cordial working relationship with the police who will be deployed at the station soon to remove the bad blood with the police many residents develop," he said.
Nyamiti observed that arresting suspected criminals within the area had proved difficult even after courts had issued warrants of arrests due to the area resident’s lack of cooperation.
"The erection of the AP post at Kanyoni is proof enough that our government is dedicated and committed to tame insecurity everywhere. I am calling on the area residents to be friendly and cooperative with the new officers that will be posted to enhance better service delivery," he urged.
He further said that the area had for long been a hideout for criminals who commit crimes in the neighboring Kamwangi and Munyaka areas.
The police boss added that the post will have frequent police patrols on the regular, and also from the Administration Police and Rapid Response Unit from the sub-county headquarters.
