Nakuru County Women representative Mary Mbugua has asked students, teachers and parents to comply with new school rules which banned all social activities in the third term.
In a post on her facebook page on Friday, Mbugua said, “I wish to urge the students, the teachers, and the parents to comply with this directive that will play a big role in education especially in enhancing the performance of the schools.”
She defended her position saying that banning of social activities including half-term break, annual general meeting among others will help the students concentrate on national exams.
“I welcome the directive by the education Cabinet Secretary Dr.Fred Matiang'i of banning social activities in schools during the third term. This will help students concentrate on their studies and reduce any possible cases of examination cheating,” the post read further.
Her endorsement comes amid ridicule from education stakeholders in Nakuru where they termed the new rules as oppression to secondary schools’ principals.
The new rules as announced by the CS will by and large curb exam cheating in totality.
