Kikuyu MP Kimani Ichung'wa has asked NASA leader Raila Odinga to concede defeat and retire gracefully.

Ichung'wa says that Raila is a statesman and should observe the principles of democracy asking him to move to court if not happy with the presidential results that declared President Uhuru Kenyatta the winner on Friday last week.

"I want to ask Raila Odinga to respect the constitution and file his grievances in court if dissatisfied with the recently concluded general elections," he said as quoted by the Star.

The Jubilee MP said that Raila's contribution to the country's politics is commendable and he should respect the choice of the people.

Raila has disputed the presidential results that declared Uhuru Kenyatta the winner.

The IEBC chairman Wafula Chebukati declared Uhuru the winner of the presidential election with over 8.2 million votes against Raila's 6.8 million votes.

Raila claims that he was robbed of victory.

There has been a spate of protests in some parts of the country after NASA disputed the presidential results.

On Sunday,  Raila asked his supporters not to report to work on Monday.

He said that he will be making a major announcement on NASA's  next plan of action on Tuesday.

Church leaders are calling on the president  Uhuru Kenyatta and Raila to reach out to each other and call an end to protests that have been reported in some parts of the country.
