Quality grades in this year’s KCSE exams have declined.
The top grade A increased by only one from 141 to 142 while the next best grade A- dropped by nearly half as compared to last year’s results from 4645 to 2714Candidates who scored minimum university entry reduced as compared to last year.
“Quality grades have improved by one A because last year we had 141 straight As while this year, it has increased to 142 straight As. However, I have noticed and we all realize that there is a decline in the number of A minuses,” he said.
“In 2016, we had a total of 4645 A minuses, it declined by almost half because this year we have 2714 a minuses,” Dr. Matiang’i added.
