Concerns have been raised over the return of illicit brews in Kimuchu area of Witeithie Ward even before the licensing of any bar in the area.
Area leadership led by Thika Deputy County Commissioner Jeremiah Gicheru and area MP Francis Munyua have raised the concerns saying that there are several people in the area found drunk in several occasions and especially in the morning hours.
The commissioner, who led the MP in the tour of the area on Tuesday morning before the bars vetting meeting later in the day, said that his leadership is on a standby to conduct raids and apprehend anyone selling the brews in the area.
He added that there are people operating from their residential and from the information he has he will be leading police officers in the area to destroy the alcohol as well as make arrests.
The local administration consisting of the chiefs and their assistants have been cautioned against siding with the brewers and criminals as they will not be spared if caught.
Munyua warned all illicit brewers that they have no space in his territory.
“We are together in this fight and we expect no brewers to shelter in Juja. We are tired of being lenient and I am going to fight for the rights of the Juja residents with or without your help,” Munyua said.
The residents have been asked to attend the bars vetting meeting to ensure their views are aired and considered.
