Condoms. Teens want contraception and not the morality talk. [Photo: sde.co.ke]
The recent study conducted in counties in Kenya on contraceptives use by teenagers pointed out as a wake-up call for the young and old alike to embrace reality.
It is a shocker that teenagers between the ages 15-19 would rather know how to use contraceptives instead of abstinence. But, the reality is our world is evolving with time and things are fast changing.
When a child is growing up, she/he is bound to experiment with the things that encompass their surroundings.
Boys wear women clothes, make-up and shoes – the entire feminine attire, and vice versa for the girls. This does not necessarily mean that their sexual orientation has changed because with time, sometimes they outgrow these tendencies to behave in an unnerving way.
It is unfortunate that sex is in question here where experimenting is involved, but we need to find a solution and not point fingers at each other since this will only derail the motive.
After all, in a decade to come, we shall be fighting another dragon stronger and vicious than one that we are dealing with now.
