Residents in Tana River County have requested the government to provide them with bigger condoms saying the current condoms being provided are too small for them.
The men in Galole sub county complained that the condoms they are using are too small and want larger condoms for freer flow of blood.
“Some women say their partners refuse to use condoms because they are too tight,” said an officer in charge of Comprehensive Care Centre in the sub-county who did not want to be named.
They said that the condoms being provided are restricting blood flow during intercourse and they fear they are at risk of getting infections when they engage in unprotected sex.
“Most people are complaining that the condoms being provided are too small. We want to have safe sex but the condoms are too tight,” Martin Kioko said.
“My man has been complaining that the condom is too tight that it even hurts to use one when we are having sex,” said Lilian Momanyi.
“I think the government should provide different sizes of condoms because to some of us, the condoms are too small,” said Robert Makena.
“The government should provide a way for us to get condoms easily and in different sizes among the sexually active population in the area. This will reduce HIV and STI infections and prevent unwanted pregnancies especially with this cold weather,” said Ibrahim Bakari.
