Kisii chiefs have been told to conduct more Barazas to unearth issues affecting locals in their areas.
Jeremiah Omullo an elder at Nyamage said the only way to unearth issues affecting residents is conducting Barazas.
“Chiefs are forgetting this important practice which has been very useful since time immemorial," said Omullo.
"It helps the residents outline issues that would otherwise not have reached their offices,” added Omullo.
He says there are a lot of issues in the current society that ought to be handled collectively especially the illicit brew menace.
"Chiefs should revive the Barazas to help them in the fight against this illicit brew which is a menace in our county," said Omullo.
"The people are very willing to work with the government and those in authority if only they become close to the people,” he added.
