Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party members have urged candidates for the Nyacheki mini-polls in Bobasi constituency to conduct peaceful campaigns ahead of the October 26 by-election.
The ODM lawmakers led by Kitutu Masaba MP Timothy Bosire appealed to the voters to listen to the candidates and elect them based on their policies and leadership qualities.
Addressing ODM supporters during a campaign trail for the party’s candidate, Naftali Onkoba Bosire told the electorate to take the money offered by leaders but vote for a visionary and wise leader who would steer development at the Ward.
"We need to be wise and know who to vote for because need a leader who can foster development," said Bosire.
He said Cord leader, Raila Odinga is scheduled to visit the area on October 24 to campaign for Onkoba to ensure the party recaptures the seat left vacant after the death of Peter Nyaega. The seat has attracted 15 candidates.
Those in the race include- Maxwel Magoma Jubilee Party (JP) ticket, Onkoba, (ODM), Kennedy Arama, Chama Cha Umma ( CCU), Peter Moracha, National Vision Party ( NVP), Ezekiel Magati, Labour Party of Kenya ( LPK), Isaac Ayako, WIPER and Jared Ondwari, Democratic Party ( DP).
Others are Walter Mokua, Ford Kenya, Morang’a Mekubo Chama Cha Mwangaza Daima (CMD) Justus Nyaberi, Progressive Party of Kenya ( PPK) Samwel Nyabuto, Peoples Democratic Party ( PDP) Peter Rambeka Maendeleo Democratic Party ( MDP) Zacharia Mayaka, Chama Cha Mashinani( CCM) Caleb Ong’uti, Kenya National Congress and Lenah and Lenah Onserio, Narc- Kenya.
Constituency Elections Coordinator,Jackline Osiemo said the Independent Elections and Boundaries Commission has finalised preparations is set to conduct, free and fair elections.
She appealed to the candidates to adhere the elections Act and rules to avoid conflicts with the Commission and security officers
