Activists from Magena in Kisii County have appealed to the Independent Policing Oversight Authority to launch a new investigation over the shooting of Charles Ondieki who was allegedly shot by the police in 2007.
Led by Thomason Osoro, they have demanded that IPOA should launch a new investigation into what went happened with the case that was brought before Ogembo law court and ended without a clear verdict.
“It is so unfortunate to find that the police officer who was allegedly involved in the incident was also the at the same time the one involved in conducting the investigation, to me that meant the case was to end without a clear verdict," said Osoro.
Therefore, they have appealed to the IPOA to launch a new investigation for the truth can come out so that Mr Charles Ondieki can get his justice.
“My appeal is that IPOA should launch a new investigation of this matters since we need Ondieki to get his Justice that has taken quite a long time to be realised because it is now nine years later and still counting,” added Osoro.
Charles Ondieki said that the police attacked him in 2007 while he was at home claiming that he was causing the disturbance in the village, they shoot him in his right leg which also affected the left one which had to be chopped off.
