Kiambu residents getting into business have been advised against rushing into starting the same without first conducting proper research on their business ideas.

Speaking to journalists and businessmen in Thika Town on Wednesday, Kiambu Chief officer in charge of Trade and Industry Dr Samuel Otieno said that many new businesses fail due to lack of proper research.

"What we are seeing nowadays are ambitious and zealous businessmen with the desire to achieve but lack proper prior knowledge for their businesses to be able to withstand the test of time,” said Otieno.

He noted that availability of many private and public entities willing to extend loans to business starters had led many people to rush into business without proper ideas and knowledge.

"Some people get into business because their friends or colleagues are in it. They then end up copy-pasting what is being done. Such a business venture is bound to fail in the short-term,” he said.

Otieno advised starters to research on their ideas and seek expert advice before committing their capital in the intended businesses.
