A serious conflict is looming at the Solai Ndungiri Block 9/1 (AMPIVA) Farm after locals claimed the land is being subdivided and fraudulently given to individuals who are not squatters.
The former white settler settlement is said to have been transferred to one Njuguna Mwaura after the white settler left the country.
Addressing media on Monday at the farm, residents led by Peter Kuria said they want justice by ensuring all the squatters benefit.
They said they decided to hold a meeting after a surveyor was seen on the farm marking beacons without consultations.
The total number of squatters in the farm is 147, and according to them, only 100 have been apportioned half an acre each.
“What we want is that all the 147 squatters of the farm get their portion,” he said.
The squarters have been staying in the farm for the last 50 years.
“We are just hoping the government will step in and ensure this land is not given to individuals but benefits all of us,” one squatter said.
Francis Kamau who has been accused of plans to defraud the squatters denied the claims.
“I cannot go against the wish of my late father and that is why we will ensure that each of the squatters is apportioned,” Kamau said.
