The New year celebrations have come with their own fair share of challenges to Kenyans.
For some customers of Equity Bank, they met closed doors when they went to their banks for services.
At Equity Bank-Limuru, customers were seen reading the notice on the door notifying them of the closure before walking away disappointed.
The notice said the bank would remain closed for the two days and customers were advised to use Equitel services, online services among other services that require not one to walk into a banking hall.
“I expected them to close on 1st but not 2nd. And the worst is that the 3rd is a Sunday and they will also be closed,” Onesmus Waweru said.
Miriam Wanjiru said she used her ATM card to get some money she wanted, but was shocked to find the bank doors closed on a Saturday.
“We all need rest, and I know the staff are happy the management gave them the break. We will wait for them until Monday when I believe they will be refreshed to serve us even better,” said Wanjiru.
Other banks and microfinance institutions, however, were open on Saturday that included Family Bank and Rafiki Deposit Taking microfinance.
