Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen on Saturday lost his expensive Samsung mobile phone during a burial in his home county.
Murkomen was attending the burial of Mzee Willy Kaino, the father of ODM national deputy treasurer Ogla Karani, at Chebal area in Elgeyo Marakwet County, before misplacing his mobile phone.
Attempts by the Senate majority leader to ask the locals on the whereabouts of his phone were fruitless.
"A local might have picked it without knowing and it will be prudent if such an individual would hand it over to me because when you call using a different phone, it continues to ring and no one is answering,” Murkomen said.
Security team in the area were notified and when they tracked phone, details showed the phone was at Ziwa machine and later at Onjiko area in Nyando, Kisumu County, an indication that it was on the move.
It was suspected that one of the leaders who had accompanied NASA leader Raila Odinga might have picked the phone without knowing as they were all seated in the same row.
Murkomen would, however, get relieved later after his Siaya counterpart James Orengo informed him that he had his adorable mobile phone but was miles away from Elgeyo Marakwet.
