The confusion surrounding the position of majority leadership in Nakuru County Assembly on Thursday took a new turn, after the assembly Speaker Susan Kihika read to the house the court order requiring the ousted Majority Leader Waithuke Njane to resume the position until the case is heard and determined.
Waithuke went to court this week to seek order of stay of the judgment by the Political Parties Tribunal that had thrown him out in favour of Mosop Ward MCA George Mwaura.
MCAs allied to Waithuke's camp lauded the court's temporary decision to keep Waithuke as the Majority Leader.
“Mwaura should know that he is not the only one who can be the Majority Leader,” said MCA Jonathan Warothe.
They have also condemned the behaviour of Mwaura allied camp in the house, after the speaker read the court order.
“It was very childish of them and even Councilors were not doing that. This seat has driven some people berserk,” said MCA Njeri Mengere.
The Speaker on her end said that she hopes the stand-off will be resolved soon as it is affecting house business.
“This is not the end of the world. Sometimes differences occur which we have to deal with,” said Kihika.
The proceedings resume on Tuesday next week.
