There was confusion in Migori County on Tuesday afternoon after election officials announced parallel results, with both the incumbent Governor Okoth Obado and his rival Ochilo Ayacko being announced winners

Incumbent Governor Okoth Obado had been earlier announced winner by the Returning Officer beating Ochillo Ayacko in the highly contested nomination exercise.

Okoth Obado reportedly garnered a total of 110,142 votes against Ochillo Ayacko’s 59,449 and Ann Anyanga's 1,990, according to the Migori County Returning Officer.

In a new twist, however, Ochilo Ayacko, via County Elections Committee Chairperson, Tom Boy Otike, has made a new announcement, declaring Ayacko the winner.

According to results relayed by Otike, who claims to be a returning officer, Ayacko had garnered 110, 350 votes against Obado’s 68, 464.

Aspirant Ochillo Ayacko had earlier obtained a court order blocking ODM nomination results. The order stated that the results had been nullified and any further announcement would be an act in futility.
