He said with the increasing number of colleges and companies in the region, accommodation issues had become the greatest challenge; hence need to put up as many housing facilities as possible.

The legislator lamented it was absurd and quite unfortunate that many managers, lecturers and even students from those learning institutions were forced to commute daily from either Nairobi, Machakos or Kitengela towns on a daily basis, and therefore advised the local community to embark on housing investment in a bid of tapping the money, which was enjoyed by landlords from aforementioned towns.

Makau, on the same note challenged them to make those learning institutions the market for their agricultural products, adding that they could sell their farm produce and other foodstuffs to the companies, colleges and get some handsome income.

He said the institutions could provide ready markets for their products, citing that they could sell their vegetables and other farm produce to the college community instead of sitting idle to cry of unemployment when such opportunities lied untapped.

The Mavoko lawmaker, who was addressing some of the constituents in Mlolongo, Machakos County, called on the residents to support development projects that were being initiated by the county government to make them successful.
