Deputy President William Ruto has challenged the Opposition to practice politics of maturity and observe the rule of law in addressing issues.
He said the recent protests organised by the Opposition in an attempt to force the electoral commission to vacate office indicated the Opposition was not ready to respect to the Constitution.
“The Constitution is clear on how to resolve our issues but they have decided to choose the path of demonstration and destruction of property,” he said.
Ruto also said the mudslinging politics by Cord that accompanied the death of Jacob Juma was clear that they were ready to exploit any unfortunate incident to ascend to power.
The Deputy President said the government had strengthened independent institutions to perform their functions as the Constitution envisaged.
He spoke during a church service and roadside meetings in Lari Constituency, Kiambu County.
Eight Members of Parliament allied to Jubilee Party who accompanied Ruto also strongly critisised Cord leaders saying they were out to cause chaos.
MPs included Mburu Kahangara (Lari), Ferdinand Waititu (Kabete), Njoroge Baiya (Githunguri), Kimani Ichungwa (Kikuyu),Moses Kuria (Gatundu South), Kigo Njenga (Gatundu North), John Waiganjo (Ol jorok) and Kiambu Women Representative Ann Nyokabi.
